The Spray Paving Procedure

Spray Paving Application is carried out over a number of stages, depending on the:

  • Condition of concrete
  • Amount and degree of cracks
  • Complexity of pattern/s
  • Number of colour/s

Spray Paving is an easy straight-forward operation for a trained experienced operator.

However without that training and experience, caution should be exercised, as there are numerous problems and traps for the inexperienced.

Correct application should never be underestimated!

Photos could never show the complete detailed application process!

Due to the years of knowledge offered to Spray Pave Australia operators within our training programme, the following points are only a brief overview of the application procedure.

  •  An (8) eight stage cleaning sequence is carried-out on the first day.
This cleaning sequence is the most critical stage, as it will determine if the resurfacing completely bonds or simply chips away and peels off!
  • The entire area is masked off, ensuring there is no “overspray” to surrounding walls, posts, etc.
  • If the concrete is in poor condition or a base colour is required, the next stage is to apply a “base coat”.
A “base coat” can be applied via a broom, squeegee or sprayed, depending on the concrete condition and texture required.
All cracks are also filled in and repaired at this stage. (Another tried and proven method).
  • The chosen pattern is now laid, either a stencil, taped, or custom design.
This process can be very labour intensive, however there are experienced methods to shorten this lengthy process.
