Spray Paving procedure. (continued)

• The Spray Pave material is now sprayed on. The air pressure, mixture additives used will vary and allowances are made for:- 
  • The days temperature
  • The texture required
  • The build-up required
  • The number of coats (usually 2 or 3)
• If a second or third colour is required, separate areas of the job are masked over to protect them. (reverse masking)
• Any “shading” or “fleck” work is now applied. These effects are very impressive, and highly recommended!
• At the right timing (may factors determine this), all the masking, stencil or tapes are now removed. Then any loose spray material is removed from the job. This correct timing and material removal are both very important issues.
• A sealer is now applied. Sealing protects the work from oil, grease, coffee and wine stains etc, whilst also highlighting the works.

 

The application, quantity and type of sealer will vary. Selecting the correct type of sealer is critical!
Application methods	Broom, spray, roller.
Quantity:	Two (2) to five (5) coats.
Type:	Depends on experience, location requirements

 

Issues to consider when applying sealer:

• Compatibility with Spray Pave material?
• Domestic or Industrial use?
• Is it subject to chemicals, burns or acids etc?

As you can read, the application is an involved process, and should only be attempted by experienced and thoroughly trained tradespeople.
